This soil sample was taken by Safecast at Kōriyama, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan on May 17, 2011. That is 60km away from the plants (30km outside the exclusion zone), 2 months after The Big Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami and over 1000 times higher than the normal room reading which were between 0 and 1 at TokyoHackerspace where I did this video. I hope the video speaks for itself and the great work the people of Safecast and other groups such as Pachube, Geigercrowd, the Ministry of Education,Culture,Sports,Science & Technology in Japan and CrowdMap among others, are doing in providing independent readings of radiation levels throughout Japan. We are used to the phrase "Knowledge is Power", but in this case it is more than power, in this case "Knowledge is Safety".

Fresh Vedgies off Limits from Koriyama
Carlos,
Nice video; I guess you might be eating canned vedgies....yummm....did you ever find a school for the San Francisco school kids to send their 1,000 cranes? The school year is ending soon and it would be nice to send off what they have.
